Hey everyone! My name is Sally and I would like to share a little bit about the McKesson House story with you!

In August 1997, I traveled for the first time across the Atlantic Ocean to Heidelberg, Germany, to visit my firstborn grandson, William. Always afraid to fly, I was both excited and incredibly anxious as I boarded that airplane. Hours later and travel-weary, with a handmade Raggedy Ann and Andy under my arms, I knelt by little William and gave my heart away completely. Thus began my adventure in "grandmotherhood," the most rewarding aspect of my life! Little did I know that another, very different adventure, would begin to take root as well

During my visit in Germany, something else caught my eye. My daughter Heather and my son-in-law Jeff owned the most beautiful dishes I had ever seen! The colors and patterns on the stoneware created a lovely table setting - mealtimes were fun at their house! Heather was only too happy to explain where she found these lovely dishes. She had traveled to Poland to a quaint little town called Boleslawiec, where a centuries-long tradition of pottery making sustained the townspeople. She instantly loved the pottery, and bought enough to fill several boxes! During subsequent trips to Poland, Heather added to her collection. It is said that Polish pottery very quickly becomes an addiction - and Heather did nothing to dispute that claim!

During the next several years, Heather and I wondered if perhaps we should start a little business selling the pottery. Bolstered by our husbands' encouragement, in the fall of 2002 we placed our first order, gave our business a name, and began our journey. And, as they say, "the rest is history!" First located in one room of my house on Main Street in Fairfield (the historic McKesson House - hence our name), in June 2005 we bought the red brick house on Main Street for our shop. Soon though, our 3-room shop was quite literally overflowing with pottery! So just over a year ago we started renovation of our barn just behind what used to be our red brick shop/house. We are proud to say that as of this past September our barn is complete and our new shop location open to the public! And my, is it gorgeous!

Over these past years, Heather and I have thoroughly enjoyed selling Polish pottery. Our customers make this a fun and rewarding business, for they quickly become our friends as well! We like the fact that people just stop by to say hello, and have a cup of coffee with us. We feel blessed that we have been able to turn our love of this pottery into an active, people-friendly business, where folks can shop in a relaxed, feel-at-home atmosphere.

To our friends who have helped to make this happen, we thank you from our hearts. To those who have not yet visited McKesson House - we invite you to stop by. We'll make you a cup of coffee, introduce you to a spectacular variety of Polish pottery, and invite you to become a new member of a fun club - the club of Polish pottery nuts!

Sally
